What Is 3D Vegetation Net?

A 3D vegetation net, also known as a three-dimensional erosion control mat, is a geosynthetic product made from UV-stabilized polypropylene or polyethylene. It features a three-layer, entangled mesh structure that provides a stable base for soil and plant roots on slopes and embankments.

This net promotes rapid vegetation growth by holding seeds and soil in place, preventing erosion from wind and water. It’s widely used in highway slopes, riverbanks, reservoirs, and landscaping projects.

Key Technical Specifications:

  • Material: UV-stabilized PP or PE

  • Thickness: 10–20 mm

  • Mass per Unit Area: 200–500 g/m²

  • Tensile Strength: ≥ 0.8–3.0 kN/m

  • Open Structure: 90%+ void ratio for root growth

  • UV Resistance: Excellent

Applications of 3D Vegetation Net

The 3D Vegetation Net is designed for a wide range of erosion control and slope protection applications. It is commonly used in the following areas:

Slope Protection: The net provides a protective layer over slopes to prevent soil erosion, landslides, and surface runoff. It stabilizes the slope while supporting vegetation growth, making it ideal for highway embankments, railroad slopes, and hilly areas.

Erosion Control: Commonly used in areas prone to soil erosion, such as riverbanks, coastal areas, mountainous regions, and construction sites. The net helps control water runoff, wind erosion, and rain impact.

Land Reclamation: Used in land reclamation projects, the net helps restore vegetation in degraded areas by providing a stable surface for plant roots to grow and thrive.

Green Roofs: Suitable for green roof systems, where it provides soil retention and promotes plant growth on roofs while protecting the underlying structures from erosion and moisture.

Mining and Quarry Sites: After excavation and mining, the 3D vegetation net can be applied to revegetate and stabilize disturbed soils, ensuring the area recovers and reduces the risk of erosion.
Reforestation Projects: Used in forest restoration or reforestation projects to stabilize soil and promote the growth of trees and other vegetation in degraded areas.

The three-dimensional mesh structure tightly wraps the soil and grass seeds, effectively resisting wind and rain erosion, preventing soil and water loss on the slope, and ensuring the long-term stability of the slope. The multi-layer space provides a entanglement carrier for the plant roots, accelerating the formation of a "net-root-soil" composite structure, and realizing biological and engineering synergistic reinforcement.

The flexible material adapts to surface deformation, combined with vegetation coverage to replace hard slope protection, and has both natural disaster prevention and natural landscape restoration functions. The lightweight roll can be quickly laid on complex terrain, and the vegetation is self-sustaining after survival, which greatly reduces the investment in later maintenance.
